Dear Merton Borough Council,

Please could you:

a) Tell me the number of people who have attended the public sessions at Wimbledon Park Athletics Track each year? (Public in this instance is designed to mean where an individual has booked directly with the track in an open session, versus via a club session).

b) How many times the Athletics track has been hired each year by groups, businesses or clubs?

c) How many of these (b) hires were for sporting/running use?

d) How much in total did the most recent refrubishment of the athletics track cost, and how funding was provided.

Yours faithfully,

A Tranter

Dear Mr Tranter,

Freedom of Information Act 2000 / Environmental Information Regulations
2004 Information request [F13077]

We have now considered your information request as set out below.

You asked four questions, our responses to which are provided below by
each point in turn:

a) Tell me the number of people who have attended the public sessions at
Wimbledon Park Athletics Track each year? (Public in this instance is
designed to mean where an individual has booked directly with the track in
an open session, versus via a club session).

Between April 2017 and August 2019, the number is 289.

b) How many times the Athletics track has been hired each year by groups,
businesses or clubs?

Between April 2017 and August 2019 the number of separate hires is 373.

c) How many of these (b) hires were for sporting/running use?

The total number of sports hires during the period above was 354.

d) How much in total did the most recent refurbishment of the athletics
track cost, and how funding was provided.

The most recent refurbishment project at the athletics track area
comprised a comprehensive replacement of the trackway floodlights at a
total cost of £14,300 in 2018. This was paid from a combination of funds
invested by the Council and the local athletics club which is based at the
track.
