Dear St Mary's University, Twickenham,

Can you please tell me whether the information within the 2 weblinks below are true and if they are untrue will St Mary's University be taking legal action for defamation?

Did the interim Vice Chairman tell students to go home in a YouTube broadcast on the 24th March 2020?

Clearly recorded in Hansard on the 23rd March the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock said: "on public health grounds we made it absolutely clear that we were taking steps to close schools, nurseries, universities and colleges".

Yet, in a letter to Dame Eleanor Laing, St Mary’s Vice Chancellor Anthony McClaran asserted that “St Mary’s remained open throughout the pandemic”. The impression is given that some obfuscation is taking place.

Can you please confirm whether St Mary's were disobedient to the advice of the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock and remained "fully open as usual" when Matt Hancock made it clear that Universities were to close on public health grounds?

Can you please tell me what parts of the University remained "fully open as usual" after the 23rd March 2020 and why did the Vice Chancellor tell students to go home if the halls of residence remained fully open as usual?

Can you please send me all emails regarding Covid-19 /Coronavirus from the email account of Mr Dave Hartnett from the 1st March 2020 to 30th March 2020?

Yours faithfully,

Duncan Willows

Dear St Mary's University, Twickenham,

My apologies this paragraph should read:

Can you please tell me what parts of the University remained "fully open as usual" after the 23rd March 2020 and why did the interim Vice Chairman (and not the Vice Chancellor) tell students to go home if the halls of residence remained fully open as usual?

Yours faithfully,
