Who owns the offside land by the canal at Findern Lane, Willington?
Dear Derbyshire County Council,
I wish to know who owns and is responsible for a patch of wild land alongside the Trent & Mersey Canal, between the canal and Findern Lane, in Willington, Derbyshire.
It is about 270 yards long, varying in width and opposite the field between 119 Findern Lane and Dale Farm (73 Findern Lane). The location is approximately
VC4V+J2 Willington, Derby (Google Maps plus code)
52.856510, -1.557549 (OS)
///initiates.probe.headline (What 3 Words)
The Canal & River Trust (owner of the canal) say it is not their land (they included a map to show their remit only extends to the immediate canal bank).
I have also made FOI requests to both South Derbyshire District Council and Willington Parish Council, and they have both denied ownership. Furthermore, there is no entry in the UK Land Registry for that land.
So, is it owned by Derbyshire County Council, or do you have any knowledge of who else might own it?
Thank you,
Andrew Denny

Please see the below Freedom of Information Act 2000 / Environmental

The land you refer to is not shown to be in Derbyshire County Council
ownership. We would usually recommend you would have to carry out a
search with Nottingham Land Registry to see who the owner is and if it has
been registered with them,

they have already been unable to help with your enquiry.
I hope this now satisfies your request.
