White warning lights on emergency vehicles

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust,
I am enquiring as to what exemption this Trust has for the use of flashing/alternating white warning lights on your emergency vehicles (not the flashing/alternating headlamps) but specifically the lights used in the front grille's and lightbar's which fall under the remit of the Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations.

I await your reply in due course.

Yours faithfully,

Gavin Webb

Dear :Freedom Of Information Mailbox,

Thank you for your reply, and I look forward to receiving notification with regards to the clarification from the Department for Transport.

With regards to the flashing white lights fitted to the grille, I fail to see as the legality of these under requirements relating to obligatory dipped-beam headlamps and to optional  dipped-beam headlamps when they are neither! - perhaps you can seek clarification from DfT regarding these also?

I look forward to hearing from you in due course.

Yours sincerely,

Gavin Webb

Good morning,

I have checked with our Fleet Manager who advised that we are still awaiting the outcome of discussion with the Department for Transport so unfortunately, we are unable to provide any further information around this at the moment.
