What makes a warrant valid

The request was successful.

Dear Northamptonshire Police,

Can you please provide recorded information with regard to warrants, both civil and criminal:

Does a warrant have to be signed?
Does a warrant have to show who or which court issued it?
Does a warrant have to have a signature on it, and if so whos?
How long is a warrant valid for?
What training do constables undergo to ensure that when a warrant is executed, its validity can be confirmed?

Please cite the legislation that supports your information.

Yours faithfully,

Norman: Hinks

RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
Our Ref: 003268/14

With reference to your e-mail received 12/07/2014 requesting information as reproduced below:

I can confirm that Northamptonshire Police holds the information requested (although we do not deal with civil procedures) as follows:

A warrant is issued by the courts signed by a magistrate and is valid for the time specified. All student officers are provided training on the process.

I trust you find this information to be satisfactory but if you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

Northamptonshire Police provides a review and appeals procedure within the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. If you decide to make an appeal and, having followed the full process you are still dissatisfied, you will then have the right to direct your comments to the Information Commissioner who will give due consideration to the matter. See Appendix 'a' attached.

Yours sincerely
