FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST

requested the top ten cities in the UK based on how many businesses were
opened in 2020 and the top ten sectors in the UK based on the number of
businesses started in 2020.

 

Your request has been considered under the Freedom of Information Act
2000.

 

CH publishes a register of company information and makes it available to
the public. This can be accessed by either purchasing the DVD Rom or
accessing the CH free company data product. Details of both products can
be found in 'Our Services' on our website at:

The CH free company data product provides a snapshot from the public
register in CSV format and can be accessed via the following link:

From the free company data excel sheet, you can filter column “O” by date
of incorporation and column “J” by postcode.

 

You can also filter column “AA” by type of business.

 

I must refuse your request for this information as under section 21 of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 as any information that is reasonably
accessible to the applicant, albeit on payment of a fee, is exempt
information under the Act.

 

If you are dissatisfied with the result of your request for information
you may request an internal review within two calendar months of the date
of this email. The case will be reviewed by a senior member of staff who
has had no previous involvement in this case. The internal review will
only consider the way your request for information has been handled and
whether the exemptions used have been correctly applied. The reviewer will
not look at any other issues you may have with Companies House.
