My name is Claire McWilliams and I work for a Compliance Scheme called blue Compliance.
I would like to request the following information from either the procurement department or the Waste Management/Recycling department.
• Date of the next tender for the “Collection and Disposal of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and Batteries.
• Also a copy of the previous successful tender for the collection and disposal of WEEE.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Brand and Compliance Manager
Apologies for the vague response, I am relatively new to post, so have had to do some digging. It appears we don't have one contract and one tender relating to disposal, we tend to do it on an as-needed basis and obtain quotes accordingly.
Below is the response from the estates team.
" Have talked to Mike RE WEEE
Fridges and freezers are taken away by East Coast Waste and a certificate of removal is received.
Any other small electrical items disposed of by Mike are deposited in an East Coast Waste skip and taken away.
East Coast Waste is a certified company for disposal of electrical items.
All electrical components connected with either the fire alarm or intruder alarm systems are taken away by ADT or Vocalvale respectively.
Any electrical items no longer wanted by the college and in working order are auctioned off to staff.
All other electrical equipment is stored in a container. Once the container is full Ron contacts (as is my understanding) several registered disposal companies and obtains tenders for the items to be removed for either recycle or scrap (like with ECW) as required.
Blown lamps (tubes) are stored in the main store and periodically removed by City Electricals for correct disposal.
All electrical equipment disposed of is made aware off to Lee to remove from the register.
Hope this is what you were wanting and answers the questions sufficiently."
I am on leave now for two weeks, if I can be of any further assistance, please let me know.
