Website Accessibility Disproportionate Burden

Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council,

I have noted that on your accessibility statement you identify that "Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards unless we determine that they represent a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations."

Please could you tell me by which standard you are planning to gauge future case by case document publishing for disproportionate burden?

I would appreciate this information in a computer readable format as I use assistive technology so any format besides a scanned PDF is preferable please.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Winston Smith

Dear Mr Smith

future case by case document publishing for disproportionate burden?

Wherever possible the Council follows the guidance available on the
[1]www.gov.uk website which can be found here,
[2]https://www.gov.uk/guidance/accessibilit...

However the council only has a small team of 1.5 people working on the web
content for the whole of the Council’s website.  We will always try to
offer a machine readable format if our resourcing allows. Wherever
possible we will provide an HTML version of any PDF that is sent through
to be uploaded for individual departments.  If this is not possible we
would do our best to convert the PDF into PDF/A format. We will always try
to avoid uploading scanned documents if at all possible but occasionally a
document in this format is required for legal purposes, such as in
Licensing or planning.

If you have any queries regarding your request for information then please
