Can you please advise when your current contract for the provision of weather forecasts for Winter Maintenance (Gritting etc) comes to an end and also what means will you use to publicise any Tender Opportunity that may come out for future contracts?

Your request was received by the Isle of Wight Council on 9^th May 2014
and is currently being considered.

 

As required by the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Isle of Wight
Council will respond to you as soon as possible and no later than 20
working days after the receipt of your request.

 

Under the Act, there is a limit for responding to requests where they
exceed the Appropriate Fee Limit as set out in the Freedom of Information
and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulation 2004. The fee
limit is set down by the Lord Chancellor and is £450 which equates to a
maximum of 18 hours of search and retrieval time.

Thank you for your information request dated 8 May 2014 regarding the
weather forecast contract for winter maintenance.

 

Winter maintenance is now carried out by Island Roads as part of the
Highways PFI contract which came into effect from 1 April 2013.  Island
Roads’ current contract with their weather provider runs for 2 years until
2016 and has a clause to extend it for a further 2 years until 2018.

 

At the moment Island Roads do not know what means they will use to
advertise any future tender opportunities as this will be a decision for
their Commercial Manager at the time.

 

Some of the information that we provide in response to Freedom of
