Mae'r ymateb i'r cais hwn wedi cael ei oedi. Yn ôl y gyfraith, dylai Thames Water fel arfer wedi ymateb yn brydlon a erbyn (manylion)

Dear Thames Water,
I live in a water stressed area and Thames Water carried out extensive work to fit water meter pits in our street. However, over a year later the pits remain empty with no sign of water meters.
I believe that water meters play an important part in making users more aware of the amounts of water they use. Excessive water wastage depletes our waterways and causes considerable stress on the environment.
Is there a timetable to fit water meters in Essex and if so, what is it?
If not, why carry on the work in the first place?

Yours faithfully,
John Wiseman

Dear Paul Bridgens ,
thank you very much for your prompt reply.
It would be the Buckhurst Hill/Woodford area and in particular IG9.
Hope this is sufficient.

Yours sincerely,

John Wiseman

Dear Paul Bridgens,

It would be the IG9 area of Buckhurst Hill where work took place in late 2018 to install water meter pits.

Yours sincerely,

John Wiseman

Environmental Information Request
Dear Mr Wiseman

Thank you for your environmental information request. Please find our
response to your questions below.

“I live in a water stressed area and Thames Water carried out extensive
work to fit water meter pits in our street. However, over a year later the
pits remain empty with no sign of water meters.

I believe that water meters play an important part in making users more
aware of the amounts of water they use. Excessive water wastage depletes
our waterways and causes considerable stress on the environment.

Is there a timetable to fit water meters in Essex and if so, what is it?

If not, why carry on the work in the first place?”

Our Response

Our compulsory metering programme was approved by the Secretary of State
for Environment in 2012 as part of our statutory Water Resources
Management Plan (WRMP).

This is in line with the current challenges we are facing due to
population increase and climate changes and we know that the 2020 demand
is forecast to outstrip supply by 133 million litres of water per day.

Therefore, it is one of our priorities to increase the smart meter numbers
in the Thames Water area in the coming years whilst being mindful of our
customer’s needs.  This means, that sometimes we have to wait until we fit
our smart meters and, in particular in the Essex area, we came across a
number of supplies needing proving works before the installation and/or
shared supplies.

Without further details, such as Post Codes or Road Names, I’m unable to
pinpoint exactly what stage those meter installations are at.

Internal Review
