Ward-by-ward deprivation and social inclusion statistics

The request was successful.

Dear Bristol City Council,

I would like to ask for your assistance in framing a request about statistics on deprivation and social inclusion in Bristol, ward-by-ward. Under the Freedom of Information Act, public authorities have a duty to assist requesters in framing their requests and I would like to make use of this provision.

I am seeking ward-by-ward statistics on deprivation and social inclusion within the city. However, I do not know which measures Bristol City Council holds statistics on, and so would like your suggestions as to which measures I could ask for in my request. Examples which come to mind are child poverty, average income, access to public services, proportions of employed and unemployed people, but I have no idea if the City Council collects these on a ward-by-ward basis, or at all: it's entirely possible that you don't collect any of these meaures (or collect them only on a city-wide basis, or by some other geographical unit than ward), but do collect a host of other equally valid measures of deprivation or social inclusion on a ward-by-ward basis. I think it is fairly likely that you have a unit charged with monitoring these aspects of life in the city, and suggest that they could perhaps help me with this.

Is this something which the City Council could help with?

Yours faithfully,

Susan Davis

Dear Bristol City Council,

Please could you let me have an update on your progress in considering whether you would be willing to assist me in making this request?

Yours faithfully,

Susan Davis
