Dear North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust,

In the public interest I would be grateful if you could furnish me with the following information;

Covering a period of six years, starting with the period 2015 to 2016 followed by the periods 2016 to 2017, 2017 to 2018, 2018 to 2019, 2019 to 2020 and 2020 to 2021 respectively, the figures for the following are requested;

1. The total number of Road Traffic Collisions involving vehicles owned/operated/hired by your trust.
2. The total number of Road Traffic Collisions involving vehicles owned/operated/hired by your trust whilst using active blue lights/sirens.
3. The total number of Road Traffic Collisions involving vehicles owned/operated/ hired by your trust that were not using active blue lights/sirens.
4. For each time period, the number of Private Ambulance Provider vehicles and crews engaged for Frontline Emergency Response Duties.
5. For each time period, the number of Private Ambulance Provider vehicles and crews engaged for High Dependency Care duties.
6. For each time period, the number of Private Ambulance Provider vehicles and crews engaged for Non Emergency Patient Transport duties.

Please note, the trust started to actively record if the vehicle was
travelling on sirens/lights towards the end of 2018 and this information
is not provided for all cases. This information is recorded via the
accident report form and / or provided verbally over the phone.

Below is the data for the number of vehicle shifts by private ambulance
provider for frontline emergency response duties. Please note that North
West Ambulance Service usually utilises private provider resources to
attend typically lower acuity incidents on the 999 spectrum which are more
aligned to urgent care needs rather than emergencies.
