Dear Caroline Nicholson,

Thank you
Firstly:
The aforementioned email was sent before lockdown and the response did not address all of the questions I ask here and
Secondly:
Please could you put up-to-date answers to the few questions you did answer here so they are in the public domain as we wish to compare provision, or lack of provision, for safe spaces for van dwellers that enabled them to comply with lockdown across the various Local Authority’s so we can send our findings to Government.

Yours sincerely,

Primrose Jones

Dear Freedom of Information,
So far I have not had my questions answered, the Council has sent two emails to me, neither of which address my FOI questions

This on 23/03/20
Dear Ms Jones,
I’m really sorry to hear you’re in a position where you can’t find anywhere to park your van but we as a council are not currently planning to put any provisions in place for ‘van dwellers’ to have a base as you suggest. We do have a duty to assist with those that are homeless in our borough which is why I suggested that you contact the Housing team to see if they could assist you finding accommodation even if it is only temporary, this would seem to me to be the safest option if you had to self-isolate.
I can confirm that we have not evicted anyone off sites in the last week and as far as I am aware there is no official government advice on the matter. If we did get reports of an illegal encampment we would assess them on a case by case basis with our colleagues from Hampshire Police.

This on 01/04/20
Dear Mrs Jones,
I have just been made aware that there the government has now released guidance regarding those without a main home or residence/key workers dwelling within a mobile home. I have attached the link below but it does state that sites are permitted to allow you to stay on them. I thought it may be worth you approaching some local sites to see if they would be happy for you to stay. If they want confirmation that they are allowed to do this please feel free to pass them my details and I would be happy to do so.
