1.    How much will the Scheme cost in total?

The  current pre-tender cost for the scheme is estimated at approx. £8.5
million pounds.

2.    How much of the Public Funding is from Coast to Capital and how much
is from Brighton and Hove City Council?

3.    How many Months/Years of disruption to motorists, pedestrians,
public transport, taxis and others will the scheme be causing?

The construction phase is likely to continue for 24months.  Once the works
Contractor is appointed we will have a full detailed programme of the
construction works.   This is covered in Valley Garden Scheme in FOI 9442.

4.    How long is the work on the Public Spaces part of the Project likely
to last?

5.    The Public Spaces part of the project will be integrated within the
build time for the whole of the scheme therefore approx. 24 months
 construction phase for both highway and greenspace, a traffic management
report was issued in the response to FOI 9422.

6.    How long is the work on the road re-design part of the Project
likely to last?

See point 4 above, covered also in FOI response 9422.

7.    Which parts of the Valley Gardens Road Scheme are proposed for
narrowing of the carriageway with just one lane of traffic for motorists?

The scheme layout is attached which will show the general flow for
traffic. The general traffic is situated on the eastern corridor on the
attached drawing the lane markings show where lane changes from two lanes
in each direction to one in each direction. There is very little change to
the carriageway width where possible we are proposing to maintain the
existing kerb widths.

8.    What are the implications of this for the displacement of traffic
into other residential streets both during the construction of the scheme
and after the scheme has been completed?

There is likely to be some disruption during the construction phase due to
temporary traffic arrangements. We have proposed a phased plan for the
construction phase to minimise disruption but it is accepted that some
traffic will divert on to other parts of the network during that period.
In terms of displacement once the scheme is completed, it is expected that
traffic displacement will be minimal as the strategic accommodation of
directional traffic will be maintained.
