Dear Mr Lewis
Thank you for your request for information regarding ‘Vacant properties’ (reference number 04640);Please see our response attached/below. If you have any queries regarding your request for information then please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Your request for 'empty residential properties' has been refused under Section 31 (1) (a) of The Freedom of Information Act 2000 - 31 Law enforcement. (1) Information which is not exempt information by virtue of Section 30 is exempt information if its disclosure under this Act would, or would be likely to, prejudice - (a) the prevention or detection of crime. Disclosure under this Act would, or would be likely to, prejudice the prevention or detection of crime. This is because criminals would be able to identify what buildings were empty and vulnerable to crime.
Please however, find a list of empty commercial properties attached.
If you are not content with the outcome of your complaint, you may apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. Generally, the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints procedure provided by the Council. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at: The Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
