Using a healthy child for clinical training

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust,
1. a. Under what if any circumstances would you use a healthy child for the training of clinical or medical staff.
b. Would a tutor be able to use their own child, if so, what age would the child have to be?
2. Would you risk assess the situation? If so, how and why?
3. Under what circumstances would the Trust provide a manikin?
4. If a manikin were provided, would the tutor have the option to use a child of their choosing?
5. Under what circumstances would the use of CCTV cameras be acceptable to be used when a child under the age of 4 is used for clinical or medical training?

Yours faithfully,

Debby Appleton
