Dr Robert S. Coull

Dear Scottish Ambulance Service,

BASICS Doctors (and other BASICS responders) provide a vital service in Scotland supporting the Scottish Ambulance Service, especially when responding to cardiac arrests and major trauma in remote and rural areas where traditional SAS resources are often some distance away.

To be able to provide this service, it is essential that the availability and location of these doctors and other health care providers is known by ambulance control. The Scottish Ambulance Service has the ability to track BASICS reponders through their Airwave radios, but at present this is not being done.

Please could you supply me with details of why the SAS is not using this facility to track BASICS repsonders and reduce the risk of death or serious injury to patients from avoidable delay in the provision of advanced medical care at the scene.

Yours faithfully,

Dr Robert S. Coull

Dear Scottish Ambulance Service,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Scottish Ambulance Service's handling of my FOI request 'Use of Airwave GPS Tracking for BASICS Responders'.

The reason I am requeting an internal review is that you have not responded to my request within the statutory time period of 20 working days. I have allowed two additional working days for a postal response to arrive as per guidance from the Scottish Information Commissioner.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/u...

Yours faithfully,

Dr Robert S. Coull
