Dear Land Registry,

During September 2011 your employee, Gurmale Sondh, was in correspondence with a Mr Andrew Pearson, and eventually helped him with an exact figure for the number of properties that have a chancel repair liability registered against them.

Please could you provide me with an up to date number on these entries on the register, as I am doing an academic research project on the subject?

If I need any further clarifications on this request, I will contact you again but note that the number will be for all registered properties in England and Wales.

number of the registered properties having chancel repair liability

I am informed that Chancel repair liability entries appear on just over
8,000 registered properties in England and Wales.
 
The data provided has been collected from a variety of sources as part of
the land registration process. Whilst we make every effort to ensure that
the data we provide is as accurate as possible we cannot guarantee it is
fit for your intended purpose or use.
 
It is also subject to Crown copyright and there may be other important
publication restrictions, such as those concerning data protection. This
means that if you intend to publish or quote from the data supplied, you
must let us know in advance of publication.

If you are dissatisfied with this response to your request, you may seek
an internal review within two months of the date of our reply. Internal
reviews will be dealt within 20 working days. If at the end of this time
