Dear Letven, Rebecca,

Thank you for the update. But I would like more detail if there is any plan for the unused wards.

I read on Manchester Evening News and there is current consideration to use one of the unused ward as a secured unit.

So, please kindly reply with the appropriate information regarding the future plan for these wards.

Yours sincerely,

Johnny Lee

Dear Letven, Rebecca,

I found the article by the Manchester Evening News. (see link below)

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/n...

The chief executive of Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust is clearly aware of this and yet the response from the trust is that this matter doesn't concern the trust.

Therefore, I am confused and yet concerned about this response.

Please kindly reply accordingly.

Yours sincerely,

Johnny Lee

Dear Johnny,

Unfortunately the Manchester Evening News reported this issue incorrectly
at the time. As stated by our Chief Executive in the article, the Trust is
always interested in pursuing service developments. However, in this
article Jackie Daniel does not declare that there is, as you state,
"consideration to use one of the unused wards as a secured unit".

Currently the Primary Care Trust (NHS Manchester) is leading on a piece of
work which aims at establishing patient need, and therefore at present
Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust is not in a position to
make any plans regarding secure units and unused wards.

As I previously suggested, if you require further information I would
recommend contacting the Manchester Primary Care Trust, who dealt with
this issue when is was originally mis-reported. They can be contacted at:

Parkway 3

Parkway Business Centre,

Princess Road, Manchester,

M14 7LU
