Dear University College Falmouth,

Regarding UCF's new status as a full university, and more specifically the re-branding which is taking place, how much does the university expect to spend on the whole process, including designing and implementing new logos, and fitting new signs?

Or if no detailed costs are available, what is the budget for such work?

Yours faithfully,

Mr Lovell

Dear Mr Lovell

Please find below the information we have in response to your Freedom of Information request regarding UCF's new status as a full university, and more specifically the re-branding.

The rebranding project was put out to tender in 2011. Through the tender process a branding agency was identified as fitting the criteria of the brief and engaged to redevelop the brand in readiness for University Title and the change to Falmouth University. Work with this agency is now complete and costs are as follows:

Design fees including background research, competitor analysis, design of logo, launch items, brand guidelines, stationery and marketing collateral = £58,800 Related costs including travel expenses, printouts and other costs relating to the design process = £8,736.89 Launch items and other materials including some stationery = £11,691.70 Brand campaign = £22,025 Design and licence for exclusive Falmouth font = £13,500

Please note these costs are all exclusive of VAT.

There are a number of other materials which are being produced as a natural consequence of a rebranding exercise and these include the redesign of stationery used by all departments, and other marketing collateral such as banners and promotional items used for student recruitment. Many of these items are currently used with the old University College Falmouth branding, or University College Falmouth Incorporating Dartington College of Arts branding, and are coming to the end of their life cycle and are in need of replacement. It is, therefore, not possible to accurately reflect the cost of these items in the context of this request, given that much of it would have been replaced anyway.

The implementation process has not yet started and will largely be carried out in-house, so again it is difficult to put an accurate figure on aspect of the project.

Signage is dealt with by Falmouth Exeter Plus.

If you have any queries regarding your FOI request, please send them to the dedicated email address: [email address].
