United Kingdom Government Spending on pensions
Dear Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority,
Thank you for taking the time to read this request.
The government currently spends circa £158.6b per year on Pensions.
For the years: 2000 - 2017:
How much was spent per annum on pensions for all previous Members of Parliament?
How much was spent per annum on pensions for all current or previous Members of the House of Lords ?
Please provide a definitive list of prior/current Members of Parliament and prior/current Members of the House of Lords who are receiving Pensions.
If you do not hold this information please direct me to the correct department.
Yours faithfully,
Jon Hilton
Dear Jon,
Thank you for your email, reference CAS-85181.
IPSA is responsible for making a pension scheme for MPs (called the
Parliamentary Contributory Pension Fund). This Scheme is administered
separately by the House of Commons Pensions Unit. There is also a scheme
for Ministers called the Ministerial Pension Scheme, which IPSA is not
responsible for. Further information on the PCPF can be found on the
Fund’s website: [1]http://www.mypcpfpension.co.uk/.
As such I’m afraid we do not hold information on the day to day
administration the Scheme (including its cost). The House of Commons
Pensions Unit may be able to assist.
Members of the House of Lords do not receive a salary (and therefore do
not receive a pension either).
Kind regards,
Chris Veck
