Unexplained Fractures in Babies

Gwrthodwyd y cais gan Dorset Police.

Dear Dorset Police,

Please could you provide all statistical data you hold, in relation to fractures in babies, going back from 2011 to whatever date is reasonable.

I am particularly interested in

1. The Local Authority Area
2. Name of the Hospital
3. Whether the Fractures had an organic explanation. (If so what was the cause eg. Brittle bones, Vitamin D deficiency etc)
4. Whether the Fractures were recorded as non accidental.
5. Whether a criminal trial ensued.
6. Whether the child was adopted.
7. Whether the child died from the injuries.

I appreciate that it may not be possible to provide all the above listed information however I would be grateful to receive whatever information you have available and signposting towards other organisations who may hold the relevant data.

Yours faithfully,

B McKenzie

I write in connection with your FOI request received by Dorset Police on
07/10/11.

In the first instance may I apologise for the delay in responding. This
delay has been caused by the overwhelming demand and the increasingly
complex nature of requests being received by this office.

Our records show that your request is now overdue and I recognise that the
reason for submitting it may have changed or even no longer apply.

Therefore, it seems appropriate to ask whether you still require the
information requested in the first instance.

Unfortunately at this time I am still unable to indicate a time frame for
a full response. However, I assure you that I will continue to make every
effort to satisfy your request.

If I hear nothing from you by Friday 30th December 2011 , I will assume
that you no longer require a response.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise again for the delay in
providing you with a response.

Yours sincerely

Sean Walbridge - Data Protection Officer on behalf of

Freedom of Information Office
