UCAT mitigating circumstances

The request was successful.

Dear University of St Andrews,

I am an international Medicine Applicant. There were issues with my UCAT examination which resulted in me scoring a lower UCAT score, a total of 2540 Band 1. I am applying under mitigating circumstances with an annotation from the UCAT Consortium. May I please know how you consider UCAT score in your admissions process from applicants applying under mitigating circumstances?

Yours faithfully,

Dawn

Freedom of Information, University of St Andrews

Dear Dawn,

Many thanks for your enquiry below dated 10 September 2020.  To enable
your request to be processed under the provisions of the Freedom of
Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA), I would be grateful if you could
confirm your surname please?

I am asking for this point of clarification as part of the University’s
duty under Section 15 of the FOISA is to provide advice and assistance to
enquirers. Details of your name is important for two reasons:

o For a request to be valid under section 8(1)(b) of the FOISA the name
of the applicant needs to be stated in the enquiry – a request with
only the first name of an applicant in the body of an email does not
meet this requirement.
o To safeguard your own rights. In the event that the University
answered your enquiry in such a way that you were unhappy with the
response given, after an internal review, your next course of action
would be to appeal to the Scottish Information Commissioner. The
Commissioner however, is unable to deal with any applications where it
is found that the original enquiry was invalid as in this case.

Your request is considered to be invalid at present and will therefore be
held pending until I hear from you further.   In the meantime, I will
liaise with colleagues in the School of Medicine to establish the position
and await hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

June

In addition to my original request above, I would like to ask whether having a higher predicted grades (eg A*A*A) than the entry requirements AAA is taken into consideration when your university reviews international Medicine applicants?
