T&W 2000 survey

Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council did not have the information requested.

Katja Leyendecker

Dear Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council,

I read this article with interest and agree that cycle infrastructure improvements on West Street are remarkable compared to the remaining development site.
http://www.gateshead.gov.uk/Council%20an...

Could you please provide the context, detail and data for this survey mentioned in above article?

"In 2000, a Tyne and Wear wide survey found that 93% of the population were in favour of creating safe routes for cyclists and walkers, and 64% thought local councils should improve facilities for cyclists."

As a comment to you, I have seen little evidence of this, but maybe our definition of "steady" is different.

"Since then, there has been a steady increase in the numbers of people choosing to travel by bike."

Many thanks!

Yours faithfully,

Katja Leyendecker
