I would like to request some information about recent trends in primary school places in your LEA. I am doing research into which areas have been affected by an increase in demand.

I would like to know for each of the years of entry 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, how many applicants there were for primary schools in your area (in total)

- For each of those years, I would like to know how many entry places were available (in total)
.

- For each of those years, I’d like to know how many primary schools there were in the LEA and how many of those were oversubscribed.

- For each of those years, I would like to know what percentage of applicant parents in your LEA got their 1st, 2nd, 3rd or no preference at all for their child’s school place.

- For each primary school in your area, I would like to know the distance from school of the furthest away child to get a place if the school was oversubscribed (also know as the ‘cut off distance’). I’d like this data for 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

- I would also like to request a copy of your most recent pupil place plan and school population forecast (or similar documents).

If 2014 data is not yet available, please can you provide data for other years. Please contact me if I can clarify any of this.

3) For 2011 and 2012 there were 45 primary schools in Brighton & Hove. For 2013 and 2014 there are 47. I am not able to give oversubscription information for 2014 as we have not yet resolved all applications. However, for 2011 30 primary schools were oversubscribed (in the sense that they were not able to offer places to all applicants), for 2012 the figure was also 30 and for 2013 the figure rose to 32.

- For each of those years, I would like to know what percentage of applicant parents in your LEA got their 1st, 2nd, 3rd or no preference at all for their child’s school place.

6) The current School Organisation Plan is attached. A revised Plan with updated forecasts is to be considered shortly by the Children and Young People’s Committee.
