The total spend by the council on Translating & Interpreting Services for
the last 3 financial years is £ 737,898.68

 

The total number of transactions on Translating & Interpreting Services
for the last 3 financial years was 708.

In order to break down the spend by language and by year an officer would
be required to inspect individual records across the Authority as there is
no central record.  It is therefore estimated that the cost of complying
with your request would exceed the appropriate limit. The appropriate
limit has been specified in regulations and for local authorities it is
set at £450. This represents the estimated cost of one person spending 2
1/2 working days in determining whether the Department holds the
information, and locating, retrieving and extracting the information.
Under section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act the Department is not
obliged to comply with your request and we will not be processing your
request further.

Part 1 - No, not offered in-house.

 

Part 2 – A new framework was established in 2017, led by East Sussex
County Council. All future requirements will be directed through this
framework. There are 4 lots with different suppliers approved in each lot.
The details are shown below. The providers will source the appropriate
required language specialist as they all have a bank of translators and
interpreters at their disposal and, to date, WSCC have always been able to
meet any client/service requirements.
