Dear Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office,
Have any born-digital records been transferred to TNA? If so, what is the volume and type of records. If not, when is it anticipated that digital transfers will begin?
Does your department use technology-assisted review for its sensitivity review of digital records or does it still use a file by file approach?

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Lale Özdemir

Dear Dr. Özdemir,

We can confirm that the first digital transfer of FCDO digital records,
subject to any unforeseen circumstances, is due to take place in October
2021. The paper/electronic records due to be transferred are in line with
our agreed transfer programme, more information can be found at

Although a technology-assisted approach to digital sensitivity review is
used,  sensitivity reviewers are involved in making final decisions about
what is or is not sensitive.  The process is not automated and review
takes place on a digital folio by folio basis.

Yours sincerely,

Information Management Department

Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office
