Training of temporary workforce

We're waiting for Chloe Bishop to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust,
I would like to receive documents pertaining to the checks and training temporary agency workers are going through, before entering specialist units, such as locked mental health units.
I would also like the local policy on temporary workforce in specialist units.

Yours faithfully,
Miss Bishop

Dear Ms. Bishop,

Further to your recent request made under the Freedom of Information Act
2000, please see detailed below and attached the Trust’s response:

I would like to receive documents pertaining to the checks and training
temporary agency workers are going through, before entering specialist
units, such as locked mental health units.

I would also like the local policy on temporary workforce in specialist
units.

When agency staff are procured they are almost always sourced via a
framework agency. Each framework has a minimum requirement of compliance
for each agency worker staff group. All agency staff are required to
provide evidence as per the attached checklist and as a framework agency,
the agency has a responsibility to store and update this information as
necessary. If staff are procured via a non framework agency the Temporary
Staffing Team has responsibility for checking compliance and staff are not
cleared to work until all compliance is in place. Also attached is a SOP
for Employment checks which applies to all staff engaged by the trust.

All staff groups are obliged to complete the attached training matrix
including staff working in secure units/mental health wards. All staff who
work on Mental Health Wards including secure wards undertake an initial 5
day de-escalation management and intervention training course. Agency
staff are required to undertake an equivalent course, the content of which
is monitored and approved by our DMI lead. All staff undertake a 2 day
refresher course for DMI every year.

We would be grateful if you could take a minute to fill out our Freedom of
Information Customer Satisfaction Survey (attached) and let us know about
your experience.

Please contact me (Aled Evans) in the first instance if you have any
queries or questions regarding the Trust's response.  However, if you have
any complaints about the handling of your enquiry, please contact:
