Training about Human Trafficking for non-clinical front-facing staff
Dear Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust,
• Is there training provided to non-clinical, front-facing staff about human trafficking and modern slavery in your Trust?
• If training is delivered in your Trust, which staff receive or are eligible to receive this training? Is the training compulsory and how is attendance / completion measured? What format does this training take (e.g. e-learning, face-to-face, etc.)? How long does the training take to complete?
• If there is no training in your Trust, is human trafficking incorporated into a safeguarding training programme or policy? If it is part of a safeguarding programme, does that programme also include a section on the Prevent policy?
• For either stand-alone training or training which is incorporated into a safeguarding programme or policy (please specify which): Are staff trained in potential clinical indicators for human trafficking victims? Are staff trained in who to refer a potential human trafficking case to? Are staff trained on the questions to ask to ascertain whether a patient is a victim of human trafficking? How often is the training completed?
Yours faithfully,
Ruth Atkinson

Dear Chauhan Meena,
Thank you for your response. As my request was exclusively about non-clinical front-facing staff, I would just like to clarify what percentage of such staff are eligible to receive safeguarding training?
Is such training mandatory for non-clinical front-facing staff?
If so, how is attendance measured?
Does training include a section on the Prevent policy?
Yours sincerely,
Ruth Atkinson
Dear Ms Atkinson
I will look into this and provide a response as soon as I have the information.

Dear Ms Atkinson
In response to your additional questions to FOI Ref 2934 ALL staff must undergo or are eligible to safeguarding training at level 1 and 2. However all Registered professionals must have level 2 training. Non-registered staff may still complete level 2. Competency job matching will determine who should undergo the training - therefore non-clinical staff may undergo training but is job-role dependant. The training includes a section on Prevent policy. One way of measuring attendance is by register sheets - but all is logged on a rolling programme by the department, where those compliant and non-compliant are inputted along with dates of when training runs out.
For additional questions regarding safeguarding training, please feel free to forward through a new Freedom of Information request where we will be happy to provide a response within the timeframe.

Dear Meena,
I would just like to confirm that, as per your response, there is NO training about *human trafficking* for *non-clinical front-facing* staff?
