Further to successful FOI requests made to APHA re the importation of trail fluid, please respond to the following:
1. Since 2010, how many reports of cubbing / illegal foxhunting have been made to your force?
2. Since 2010, how many of those reports have been resolved as trail hunting?
3. Since 2010, how many of those investigations resolved as trail hunting have included proof seen and verified by police of the purchase/acquisition of trail fluid for use in said trail hunting?

Thank you for your response,
With reference to:
'Although there are defined Home Office codes for recording instances of Lamping, Hare
Coursing and so on, no codes currently exist under which it is possible to record specific
instances of either Cubbing or Trail Hunting. '
would you be so kind as to direct me to where I can source the codes for lamping, coursing and other wildlife crimes?
Serenwyl Rhosier
Good Morning.
Police Forces normally use what we call the "Orange Book" as a reference tool in respect of ensuring crimes are allocated to the correct crime classification code. Unfortunately this document is not available to member of the public or formally published as far as I am aware.
Public information available concerning crime codes can be found here:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicatio...
There are a number of documents here that give a description of offences.
For Wildlife crimes, the miscellaneous crimes section includes some details (under heading 96), but this does not break down into specific sub-codes such as hare coursing etc the way that the Orange Book does.
A number of the more "obscure" or less common crime types are classed as "summary offences" and generally grouped together - I am not aware of any publically available list of summary-only offences, but these usually fall under the banner of being traffic related, minor assaults or public order offences.
I am sorry that I cannot provide any more concise information for you.
With regards
Nick
