Traffic Regulation Orders and plans for the junction of Grosvenor Road and Flixton Road, Urmston

The request was successful.

Dear Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council,

I notice that the double yellow lines at the junction of Grosvenor Road and Flixton Road, Urmston have been overpainted as single lines stopping short of the tactile paving even though the original, more extensive, double yellow lines are clearly visible.

Please provide me with:

- All of the documents relating to any traffic regulation order for the road markings at this junction.

- If held, plans and drawings for the markings, such as whether double or single yellow, time restrictions, where the lines were to be painted, where signs would be erected, what the signs should look like.

Yours faithfully,

D Urmston

Dear D Urmston

Further to your FOI request, please see below.

Q1 - All of the documents relating to any traffic regulation order for the
road markings at this junction.

A1) – The single yellow lines on Grosvenor Road, at its junction with
Flixton Road have been in place since prior to 2001. As a result, these
restrictions were included in the Consolidation order (Borough of Trafford
(Prohibition of Waiting and Loading and Provision of Parking Order 2001)
upon its creation. The Council does not possess any documents relating to
the Grosvenor Road Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) at this junction.

B1 – On Flixton Road, the TRO governing the yellow lines on approach to
the Grosvenor Road junction were introduced in 2010. This was by way of
Amendment No. 109 of the Consolidation Order. I have attached a copy of
the sealed Order for your information.

Q2 - If held, plans and drawings for the markings, such as whether double
or single yellow, time restrictions, where the lines were to be painted,
where signs would be erected, what the signs should look like.

A2 – The Council does not possess any plans or drawings for the said TRO
at this location. I can however advise that the restrictions on both sides
of Grosvenor road at this location are ‘No Waiting, Monday – Saturday, 8am
– 6pm;  from the junction with Flixton Road to a point 22 metres from the
junction i.e. 22 metres into Grosvenor Road. Initially there were two
signs on both sides of the road displaying this information. The two signs
are shown on the attached snips, albeit one of them has since been
removed.
