Dear Local Government Ombudsmen,

The International Ombudsman Institute Conference was held from Tuesday 7th September 2004 to Friday 10th September 2004 in Quebec and Mr Redmond booked a flight Quebec to London Friday 10th September. However, although the Conference was in Quebec Mr Redmond didn't fly to Quebec as might be expected. Instead he flew to Montreal, with his wife.

This was four days before the Conference started. They then travelled from Montreal to Quebec by train and Tony Redmond billed the taxpayer for this.

1. On what day did Mr Redmond and his wife take the train from Montreal to Quebec?

2. Who paid for the additional hotel bills incurred i.e. Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th?

3. On what date did they fly back from Toronto?

4. If there was no charge to the taxpayer of £51 for a transfer from Quebec to Toronto why is that charge recorded in your accounts?
