Tier 4 sponsor licence

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear Sussex Downs College,

Please can you could you state whether, since being granted a Tier
4 sponsor licence, you have been visited by UK Visas & Immigration
(and before that, the UK Border Agency) for the purpose of
assessing your institution's compliance with the sponsor licence.

If the answer is yes, please could you state whether the assessment
included direct investigation of the practical application of
admissions policy (i.e., looking at an actual sample of individual
applications already approved for a Tier 4 visa by your
institution) or whether only a general appraisal of policy
relating to the sponsor licence was carried out, without direct
investigation of its practical application.

Yours faithfully,

James Field

Dear James Field,

I can confirm that Sussex Downs College has a Tier 4 Licence and has been
assessed by both the UKVI and before that the UKBA through unannounced
spot check visits.

On these occasions the officers completed a direct investigation of
practical admissions processes and took random samples of individual
students’ documentation.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Allen

Dear Mark,

Thanks very much for your prompt response to my query, which I've made to many colleges and universities, not just your own.

This might seem a daft question, but were you given any notice of the unannounced inspections, or did they just turn up at the door?

Yours sincerely,

James Field

No worries. First one we had warning and they were quite reasonable about adapting it. Second one was completely unannounced - I'm expecting that to be the way from now.
