Three Girls Documentary
Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,
In the recently aired documentary, Three Girls, some names were changed to protect identities.
Two of the girls, were referred to in the documentary as Amber Bowen and Ruby Bowen. I write to request the following information:
- If these were not the girls real names, when were these changed names selected?
- If these were not the girls real names, how were these names selected?
Yours faithfully,

Dear BBC,
I wrote and am writing on behalf of a person who alleges that they and their sister suffered childhood sexual abuse, which occurred on government premises and was committed by somebody employed by the government.
Since that time, they have stated and showed that they suffered various forms of abuse and harassment, often under the guise of apparent 'coincidences'. At one stage, a defamatory blog was created in this persons name. As a result, they started to use the name Bowen.
This person finds it strange and uncomfortable that they suffered abuse that had some similarities to the victims in the documentary and it appears that shortly after starting to use the name Bowen, this same name was selected to be used in a BBC documentary about child sexual abuse for two of the victims (who were sisters). I think that's understandable.
How and when the name was selected is not information solely held for journalistic purposes. The concern is that there is some malice in respect of how and when the name Bowen was selected. Therefore, for the sake of the victims I kindly request that you disclose this information.
If there was any malice in the name selection, it is in the public interest for this to be disclosed. I value journalistic freedom, however this request has no bearing on journalistic output and therefore it appears to be highly opaque for this information to not be provided.
If you are unable to supply this information, would you be happy to provide this directly to the victims I discuss in this request and if so, can you please provide contact details that I can pass to them, so they can contact you directly?
Yours faithfully,
