The failures of Dumfries and Galloway Council to provide minimum standards for Gypsy/Traveller sites

Roedd y cais yn rhannol lwyddiannus.

Dear Dumfries and Galloway Council,

In the report of The Scottish Housing Regulator dated December 2019, it states that Dumfries and Galloway Council fails to comply with the Scottish Government's minimum standards for Gypsy/Traveller sites. The deadline for compliance was June 2018.

What action has been taken to remedy this?

Has a policy document been published concerning the sites in Collin and Glenluce?

What is the reason for the failures to comply with minimum standards here?

Has the council adopted a racist approach in their dealings with the Gypsies and Travellers? Given the long overdue action, it is open to speculation as to why the council hasn't acted up to now. It is known that at least one councillor is openly racist. Have steps been taken to investigate this aspect?

Yours faithfully,

Archie Douglas

Gadawodd Archie Douglas anodiad ()

The council has failed to provide the information requested in the final paragraph of the request to them. They have made a blanket statement about their claims to respect equality etc but this is known to be false as they fail to act lawfully in relation to the Equality Act 2010, plus one councillor has made racist remarks in public.

It is felt to be a waste of time pursuing this as the reality is the diametric opposite of their claims.
