Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

I write in relation to the recent death of Doctor Who.

In relation to the casting of a woman in the non-cannon version of the series often referred to as Nu Who, I would like you to disclose the information you hold to reveal how many men were interviewed for the lead role which was eventually given to Jodie Whittaker.

Yours faithfully,

Rupert Tankard

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of British Broadcasting Corporation's handling of my FOI request 'The Death of Doctor Who'.

This request relates to checking if the BBC is innocent or guilty of sexual discrimination in not interviewing men for a male role. I therefore request an internal review and that the BBC provide the data. I presume the answer is 0 given that the man running the show says he wanted a woman.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/t...

Yours faithfully,

Rupert Tankard

Dear Mr Tankard,

Thank you for your message.

We are sorry to learn that you are unsatisfied with our response to your request. However, we refer you back to the appeals section in our letter of response which states that the BBC does not offer an internal review when the information requested is not covered by the Act. If you disagree with our decision you can appeal to the Information Commissioner. Contact details are: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF, tel: 0303 123 1113 (local rate) or 01625 545 745 (national rate) or see http://www.ico.gov.uk/.

Was this referred to the ICO? I agree that recruitment is not ‘journalism, art or literature' and this information should be available.
