Teachers and education staff
Dear Education Authority, Northern Ireland,
You told me that you have details on the backgrounds of peripatetic teaching as per Fair the Employment Order.
Can you give me a break down of Catholic/ Protestant and other please.
You also said all non-teaching staff in schools are subject to Fair Employment Monitoring and as the employing authority, the Education Authority can confirm it holds this information.
Can you provide this information in the same format please?
Can you also tell me how many teaching staff fall under the EA, and how many non-teaching staff as well please?
Yours faithfully,
Shauna Corr

Dear Ms Corr
FOI 3179 Freedom of Information Request - Ms Corr
I write on behalf of the Education Authority (EA) to advise that
non-teaching staff are monitored for fair employment. The Authority is
required to report on this on a calendar year basis (i.e. 1 January to 1
January).
Teaching staff are not monitored for fair employment. There is therefore
no requirement to report on a calendar year basis however they are
collated on a business year basis (i.e. April to March).
For the total number of teaching staff employed by EA the permanent and
temporary numbers detailed below are for the 2018/19 financial year:
Permanent Staff Total: 15,065
Temporary Staff Total: 3,738
Total: 18,803.
These figures represent the average whole-time equivalent persons employed
in teaching roles during the 2018/19 financial year.
The 2017/18 total number of teaching staff employed by EA totalling 18,741
is detailed for information only.
I trust the additional information provided addresses your query.
Yours sincerely
