Taxi Journeys

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust Nid oedd gan y wybodaeth y gofynnwyd amdani.

Dear North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust,

1) How many 999 calls since 2015 have effectively been a taxi journey?

(By this I mean how many times has a patient has decided to get out of the Ambulance before reaching the hospital.)

2) How much did this cost in each of those years?

(Please provide breakdown per month for each year if possible).

Yours faithfully,

Martin Cutler

Hi Martin,

Thank you for your recent FOI request,

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way we can reliably determine this from the
data we extract and store from our 999 database.

Although we can tell if a patient has refused transportation to hospital,
we don’t record whether a patient was taken into an ambulance for
intention of transporting to hospital then decided to get out part way
through the journey.

It would be noted in the incident itself but not in a way that can be
extracted into a database I’m afraid.

Sorry about that,

Alice
