What is the industry section & value contribution to Scottish GDP from the £59bn expenditure carried
out by SNP /Scottish ?Gov, Local Gov & Public Corporations in Scotland?
Response to your request
The Scottish Government does not have the information you have asked for because public sector
expenditure information is not held in a format which corresponds with the economic transaction
categories required to calculate GDP in total or by industry. GDP in table D of the Quarterly National
Accounts relates to the gross value added (GVA) of each industry. Breakdowns of these figures relating
to Scottish Government, Local Authorities and Public Corporations in Scotland are not available.
Furthermore, not all components of GVA are included within public sector expenditure statistics, and not
all of the expenditure in GERS Table 3.8 is included within GVA.
This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the
information you have requested.
