Supported lodgings
Dear West Sussex County Council,
I can see from your website that the basic payment for this service is £186.00 per week. I'm therefore assuming there is a top rate paid under various circumstances.
My question is what is this top rate per week
and what is the criteria which reduces this to the basic payment rate.
Is there a sliding scale and if so what is it.
Yours faithfully,
Simon Ball

Dear Mr. Ball,
Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act regarding
the top rate per week paid for supported lodgings. We received your
request on 13 July.
I can tell you that:
· The highest rate per week is £256.00 for a carer;
· The criteria that may reduce this sum to the basic payment rate
is dependent upon the presence or absence of exceptional circumstances.
The basic rate is £186.00 plus £10.00 from the young person. This basic
rate can be increased in exceptional circumstances if the young person
needs extra supervision or independence training. Additional payments can
be made on a case by case basis which is decided at the planning meeting
at the beginning of the placement.
· In response to your question about a sliding scale, there is no
sliding scale.
If you are unhappy with the way your request has been handled, you may
wish to ask for a review of our decision under our complaints procedure.
