Dear Sir or Madam, Which month of the year does suicide peak at in the United Kingdom?
Yours faithfully, Alvin Pritchard.
Thank you for your request. In 2007, the number of suicides in England and
Wales peaked in June (see attached table). This is based on the number of
suicides which occurred in 2007, rather than on the number of suicides
registered in that year. Therefore, the figures may not be comparable with
those published elsewhere which are based on death registrations. Figures
for deaths occurring in 2008 are not yet available.
(See attached file: Suicides by month, England and Wales, 2007.xls)
ONS holds mortality data for England and Wales. Figures for Northern
Ireland and Scotland are available from the Northern Ireland Statistics and
Research Agency and the General Register Office for Scotland respectively.
