Golding, Phillip (Law Commission), Law Commission

Dear L Mackenzie
Thank you for your FoI request below. We have been considering how best to respond. We had over 1200 responses, many of which were very detailed. All of them would need to be read and redacted so as to avoid disclosing any personal information, as per our GDPR responsibilities. We are a very small organisation and the impact would be significant - having made a start, I know it would be many days work (initial estimates suggest it could be as much as 35 days). In such circumstances I need to balance the desire to be transparent with the impact it would have. There is ICO guidance which might point me in the direction of seeking to refuse this FoI request. However, before considering that, I thought it helpful simply to ask whether there is a way we can work with you to refine your request? Is there a particular area of the law you are interested in, for example? In such circumstances, I imagine we will be only too happy to release what we can. I wonder if we could either grab a word to talk through your request or if you can let me know your thoughts in response to this email?
Thank you for considering,
Phil Golding
