FOI2018/141

Dear Jennie Dalton,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information Act request of 9^th July 2018. I
have reproduced your questions below together with SOAS’s response.

Please could you provide the following information:
1. The number of registered students with a visual impairment
2. The number of students with visual impairments that are text to speech
users
3. The number of students with visual impairments that are screen reader
users
4. The total number of students

Our response

1. The number of students currently registered at SOAS in 2017/18 (Live
and Interrupted) who have declared a visual impairment is 28.

2.-3. SOAS does not hold information on exactly who uses which assistive
technology.

4. The total number of students for 2017/18 academic year is 5461. This
figure does not include University of London distance learning students,
or other students from UoL colleges studying part of their degree at SOAS;
we consider these students to be registered with their 'home' college.
