Goldsmiths Information Access, Goldsmiths, University of London

Dear Beth,

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request received on 6 July 2018.

You asked for:

1. The number of registered students with a visual impairment

2. The number of students with visual impairments that are text to speech users

3. The number of students with visual impairments that are screen reader users

4. The total number of students

Response:

1. The number of registered students with a visual impairment:

Our Student Records System shows 17 students who have declared a visual impairment.

2. The number of students with visual impairments that are text to speech users:
AND
3. The number of students with visual impairments that are screen reader users:

For (2) and (3) we have noted that your request contains 2 individual information requirements across multiple data sets which would require an individual review of around 1,000 forms in order to meet your information specification. We would then need to match the information to multiple datasets. Therefore, we consider it reasonable, sensible and realistic to estimate that the cost of complying with your request would exceed 18 hours and that, in all likelihood, processing your request would take in the order of 30 hours. Therefore, as we estimate it will exceed 18 hours to comply with your request it will not be processed further.

4. The total number of students:

In 2017-18, there were 6,547 Undergraduate students and 3,455 Postgraduate students

I hope this information satisfies your Freedom of Information request. However, if you are dissatisfied with this response, you may ask for it to be reviewed by either contacting us by email: [email address] or by writing to:

Data Protection Officer

New Cross,
London, SE14 6AF
Please describe the original request, explain your grounds for dissatisfaction, and include an address for correspondence.
