I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Please can you provide the following information:

1. Number of student suicides each academic year from 2010/11
a. To detail the age of victims and what they were studying?
b. To break down whether victims were living in University Halls of Residence or accommodation rented from the private sector?
c. To explain whether their mental health issues were already known the the university at the their time of death?

2. The number of attempted student suicides known to Coventry University for each academic year from 2010/11

3. The number of students who utilise the mental health services / counselling services at Coventry University each academic year.

4. The average and current waiting time for counselling services at Coventry University.

The University has completed its search for the information requested by
you under the Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”). 

 

In relation to questions 1 and 2 (inclusive) of your request below,
Coventry University does not record individual reasons behind each death
that what are notified of.  We are not notified as to the reasons why just
that a student may have passed therefore we don’t hold the information
requested. 

 

In relation to question 3, please see the below table.  You will note that
the information we have readily available is only from academic year
2011/12.

In relation to question 3, students at Coventry University can access the
service by the connect 2 booking service so we do not have a waiting
list.  At our busiest time the appointments can be booked up for two
weeks.

 

If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your
request and wish to make a complaint or request a review of our decision,

If you believe that the University has not dealt with your request in
accordance with the FOIA, please be advised that you have the right to
have this decision reviewed via the University’s complaints procedure, a

ICO cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints
