Statutory assessment guidance for professionals
Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,
Please provide me with the advice/guidance/policy that is given to professionals requested by your SEND department to undertake an assessment and write a report as part of a statutory needs assessment for an Education, Health and Care plan.
Can you also provide me with how this guidance has been co produced and how frequently it is reviewed.
Yours faithfully,
Catherine Griffiths
Dear Catherine Griffiths,
Thank you for your recent email below.
Some new 2018 guidance has been created for Social Care advice givers
which I have attached - the advice is not co-produced. The document will
be reviewed if regulation or legislation changes, which effects the advice
and guidance within the document. As a matter of course the document
will be reviewed within a 2 year period if no changes to regulation or
legislation have occurred.
Yours sincerely

Dear Corrin, Jane,
Thank you for the response and for the information relating to Social Care input into an EHCP needs assessment.
My request however was not about Social care specifically. I requested that you;
"provide me with the advice/guidance/policy that is given to
professionals requested by your SEND department to undertake an assessment
and write a report as part of a statutory needs assessment for an
Education, Health and Care plan."
Social care does indeed fall under this remit but my request was for the advice/guidance/policy given to ALL professionals as part of an EHCP needs assessment, for clarity I will supply a list of professionals, please note this list is not exhaustive and I would request the information for any professional I may have missed.
Paediatrician,
Educational Psychologist,
Speech and Language Therapist,
School or educational setting,
child psychologist,
CAMHS,
Occupational Therapist,
SENAAT,
Physiotherapist,
Sensory Service.
Yours sincerely,
Catherine Griffiths
Dear Ms. Griffiths,
Thank you for your recent request for information shown below, the Council
has no additional recorded information to supply to you in relation to
your request. Many of the professionals mentioned on your list are
members of professional bodies (e.g., HCPC) and must provide advice in
accordance with their respective professional guidance.
The Local Authority does not have any additional specific policy or
guidance in this regard. It has, however provided further information in
the form of presentations/meetings/discussions. Professionals and parents
are provided with a form to complete when submitting their advice.
I hope this information is useful to you.
Yours sincerely
