Statistics for the Annually replacement of Road Studs

Thomas Barker made this Rhyddid Gwybodaeth request to Aberdeen City Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Roedd y cais yn llwyddiannus.

Dear Aberdeen City Council,

In brief my Company, Cyclops Road Studs Ltd has developed a device that illuminates road markings with UK, USA, CHINA & EUROPE patents granted and further patents pending globally.

I would very much appreciate information for the number of Road Studs that are replaced Annually in Scotland, within your Borough/County (the most recent year you have on record would be fine and just one year) could you please specify the year they relate to?

Could you also tell me the total miles of roads that you maintain/look after?

IT IS IMPERATIVE TO MY COMPANY THAT I HAVE THE CORRECT INFROMATION IN ORDER FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO FINALISE DISCUSSIONS WITH VARIOUS INVESTORS TO GET A ROUTE TO MARKET WHICH IS DEPENDENT ON THE ANNUAL REPLACEMENT FIGURES.

Yours faithfully,

Thomas Barker

Dear Mr Barker,

Thank you for your information request of 15 March 2019. Aberdeen City
Council (ACC) has completed the necessary search for the information
requested. Our response is now detailed below.

I would very much appreciate information for the number of Road Studs that
are replaced Annually in Scotland, within your Borough/County (the most
recent year you have on record would be fine and just one year) could you
please specify the year they relate to?

Aberdeen City Council do not hold this information as it is not recorded.
The only occasion where road studs are replaced by us is when a road is
resurfaced and we do not keep records on the number that are replaced.

ACC is unable to provide you with information on number of Road Studs that
are replaced Annually in Scotland, within your Borough/County as it is not
held by the Council.  In order to comply with its obligations under the
terms of Regulation 10(4)(a) - Information Not Held - of the EIRs, ACC
hereby gives notice that this information is not held by it.  ACC is
required by Regulation 10(1)(b) of the EIRs to inform you as to why in all
the circumstances of the case, the public interest in maintaining this
exception outweighs the public interest in disclosing this information to
you.  ACC is satisfied that it does not hold this information and
considers that, as there is no information held, the public interest lies
with the exception.

Could you also tell me the total miles of roads that you maintain/look
after?

Aberdeen City Council maintain 560 miles of carriageway.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE HANDLING OF YOUR REQUEST

As the information which you requested is environmental information, as
defined under Regulation 2(1) of the Environmental Information (Scotland)
Regulations 2004 (the EIRs), ACC considered that it was exempt from
release through FOISA, and must therefore give you notice that we are
refusing  your request under Section 39(2) of FOISA (Freedom of
Information (Scotland) Act 2002).  However, you have a separate right to
access the information which you have requested under Regulation 5 of the
EIRs, under which ACC has handled your request. Please refer to the
attached PDF for more information about your rights under the EIRs.

We hope this helps with your request.

Yours sincerely,

Grant Webster
