Dear Sirs
I am a research assistant collating information on sociological responses to educational background. This request for information is made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
I require the following information which please supply at the earliest possible opportunity and no later than 20 working days.
1. Please advise the number of 0-4 year olds in your Authority
2. Please advise the number of 0-4 year olds subject to a Social services referral during the last year for which you have records.
3. Please provide numbers of 0-4 year olds in your Authority who were placed on a Child Protection plan during the last year for which records are available.
4. Please advise the number of 5-16 year olds in your Authority.
5. Please advise the number of 5-16 year olds subject to a referral to social services during the last year for which you have records available.
6. For the 5-16 year olds subject to a referral to social services in your Authority, please advise the number who are home educated (Educated by their family).
7. Please advise the number of 5-16 year olds placed on a child protection plan in your Authority for the latest year for which figures are available.
8. For the 5-16 year olds placed on a Child Protection plan in your Authority please advise the number who were home educated for the latest year for which figures are available.

RESPONSE

 

1.    28,254 (latest ONS mid-year population estimate for East Sussex)

 

2.    1,394 referrals (1,107 individual children)

 

3.    301 Child Protection Plans started

 

4.    70,308 (latest ONS mid-year population estimate for East Sussex)

 

5.    3,090 referrals (2,417 individual children)

 

6.    40 referrals (28 individual children).  Please note that 18 of these
referrals were made prior to the home education starting (equalling 14
individual children).

 

7.    288 Child Protection Plans started

 

8.    Three children
