Dear Police Scotland,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Police Scotland's handling of my FOI request 'Statement'. In the information supplied it is stated 14 arrests took place in connection with the Parade. In a separate FOI to Police Scotland your organisation stated 8 arrests and only one for sectarianism.
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/a...

Why issue press statements that are not true and factual. The exacerbation of sectarianism is wrong and fueled an already hot issue. Furthermore by your own admission in the press release internal communications you acknowledge some media outlets decided to make out marchers were singing sectarian songs but rather than approach those outlets to correct them Police Scotland issued a tweet. Again this exacerbates the situation rather than defusing it.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...

I look forward to your reply.

Yours faithfully,

Paul Temple

Dear FOI Glasgow,

Regards your reply I do not accept that 2 FOI requests made after the event and responded to weeks later should have a discrepancy in the information requested. The FOI act requires the responses to be accurate and factual. The act also requires the responses to have a name/signature on the reply. Your reply does not. Please treat this as a complaint and respond accordingly.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Temple

FOI Glasgow, Police Scotland

OFFICIAL

Good afternoon Mr Temple

Thank you for your email.

As stated in your Review response - the number of arrests will differ due
as you will have been given the arrest figures for the date your FOI was
received. As investigations continue - more arrests will have been made at
later dates - that is why arrest figures can fluctuate where
investigations are ongoing.

We can confirm that there is no requirement under FOISA for Police
Scotland or any Public Authority to add names to response letters. There
is only a requirement for applicants to either provide their full name or
first initial and surname.

You will see that we depersonalise response letters to remove applicants
names too. An FOI response is from Police Scotland as an entity not a
personal response from the member of FOI staff. We do so to protect all
individuals identities.

I hope this response assists but if you remain dissatisfied, you can
Appeal to the Office of the Scottish Information Commissioner, their
contact details are within your Review response letter.

Kind regards

FOI Team
