Dear Ashfield District Council,

Please supply the numbers of people who have joined the council workforce from 2006 (inclusive) to the present day, and the numbers who have left the workforce for the same time period.

Please break these figures down by year. Please indicate whether you are using calendar or financial years. For each year, please supply a running total of the number of people employed by the council.

Additionally, I would like to see the numbers of people leaving the authority broken down into the different methods of leaving, i.e. the number of people who resigned; who were made redundant; who retired; who were dismissed; and any other categories that seem reasonable to include.

For the categories of those made redundant or retired, please include a total cost to the authority for these retirements and redundancies, i.e. monies paid to these workers in redundancy payments, or any lump sum monies paid to retiring workers.

Please also subdivide the numbers joining/leaving on the basis of their contract: i.e. please list those on temporary contracts separately to those on permanent contracts.

The figures should ideally include any temporary workers used by the authority but employed via a third-party temp agency, but need not include higher-paid consultants.

Please supply the data in Excel 97 format.
